Tips and Tactics for Using Facebook for Marketing
Posted by zubin | In: Viral Marketing
Facebook marketing is becoming increasingly vital for the success of any business. Marketing activities on Facebook should be seen as complimentary to your blog. The tactics you might already be applying on your blog can be synergized and enhanced by repeating on Facebook some of those activities which are appropriate and relevant to Facebook culture.
You could set many goals for your Facebook marketing. This could include reducing conventional marketing costs, improving customer service, optimizing your brand or improving customer acquisition.
One the main goals for Facebook marketing is increasing Facebook ‘likes’. This is similar to building an email subscriber list for your business or blog. The other core goals are improving engagement and increasing sales.
How to increase Facebook subscribers and ‘likes’
Facebook ‘likes’ is a great tactic for distributing news, ideas and content which build your subscribers. However, Facebook likes don’t substitute email marketing, but enhance and add to your marketing mix.
So how do you go about gaining Facebook ‘likes’? Here are seven tactics that work:
1. Email your existing prospects and inform them that you now have a Facebook page. Encourage them to visit it by providing a link.
2. Offer a free PDF or gift in your email inciting people to ‘like’ your page
3. Make sure your blog has a ‘Facebook social plugin’, preferably at the top of the right side banner. This will enable visitors to like the page without having to go to Facebook.
4. Create Facebook page which offers exclusive access to content when you like the page. Such exclusivity will make visitors feel that that they are part of a special club.
5. Make sure your email newsletter has a link to your Facebook page. You could place one link at the top and another at the bottom of your newsletter. Offering more than one option is more effective.
6. Join related Facebook groups and offer links that will drive traffic to your page.
7. Use the Facebook page to capture emails which you can use for your email marketing. Though emails might be old fashioned, they are still very effective marketing tools. Make it simple for prospects to subscribe via email to receive blog posts, updates and news when on Facebook via email.
Facebook is a powerful marketing tool because it enables you to reach not just your fans, but also your fans’ friends. This multiplier effect of sharing is something which email marketing cannot do.
