How to Use Testimonials to Enhance Your Site’s Conversion Rate

Besides focusing your attention on attracting as many prospects as possible to your website, you should also pay attention to your site’s conversion rate.

Your conversion rate refers to the rate at which prospects visiting your site convert into paying customers.

A site which makes a sale after every 400 hits has a conversion rate of one client for every 400 hits received. Some websites with a very good conversion rate regularly manage a sale after every 150 hits or so.

A very common situation on the internet is where a website is getting many visitors but is making little or no actual sales. The ideal situation is where a website with little traffic but a high conversion rate becomes very profitable.

There are several things that determine the conversion rate of a website. This includes the copywriting skills of the writer or webmaster. One effective copywriting tool is testimonials.

Surprisingly, there are people who are convinced that testimonials rarely work and that their effect on a site’s conversion rate is minimal.

Those holding such an opinion have clearly not tested real testimonials on their websites. Others who believe testimonials don’t work are referring to low quality, contrived testimonials which offer little information, and thus end up making no impression.

The fact is that, putting together effective testimonials for your website is hard work. However, it is well worth the effort.

It begins with you sending out questionnaires to your satisfied and happy clients, and using a personal email address to receive answers. You should be very brief and focus on questions that are likely to yield helpful comments.

For instance, ask them what they like about your product. Additional information like how they came across it can also be very helpful. However, you should not burden your customers with too many questions that need a long time to complete.

Your testimonials should get your customers to say that your service or product is great and to explain why this is so. Testimonials have proved to be very effective in driving traffic to my blog which promotes Medifast discounts, Nutrisystem coupons and Diet to Go promo codes.

There is much mistrust on the internet and people don’t easily believe anything they read. This is why real testimonials which are written with sufficient detail will give webmasters an advantage.

After a visitor has arrived at your website and read your content, they usually need something to push them into a decision mode. In many cases, a testimonial is very effective for influencing buying decisions.

A good way of testing their effectiveness is to compare conversion rate before and after posting the testimonials. If the testimonials are written properly, there should be a huge difference.
