I remember when I started online and how I was focused on the wrong things. I think this is typical of most new online business owners because there are just so many ways to make money online.
I was plagued with new idea after new idea, but I really did not focus on the basics of internet business.
It wasn’t until I discovered James Brausch’s blog that I really got focused on converting my traffic into sales and tracking the results like a science.
Now it is totally obvious to me how much money I left on the table in the early days because I did not focus on tracking and testing.
If there is one thing that stands out about James, it is his ability to put systems in place and test those systems to improving his business results and conversion rates.
James puts so much emphasis into testing and tracking conversion rates he recently launched an entire newsletter called Testing which is dedicated to help others understand how he improves his business by testing different factors in his business.
Recently, James sent me a copy of his March issues of Testing newsletter. In this issue James highlighted how through testing he discovered an area of his business that was completely free, but had an extremely high customer visitor value that increased revenues for his business (and no it was not his autoresponder).
James then discussed various testing he did with headlines and other areas in his sales copy and which changes to his sales copy won. He goes into full detail of the real life results and highlights how minor changes to his sales copy increased his conversion from 5% to as high as 18%.
