This month Business Week did its 5th annual article on America’s Best Young Entrepreneurs.
In the article, you’ll see several college students that started out in their dorm room to create solid growing businesses. You’ll also see lots of the young entrepreneurs focused in the area of online business.
My three favorite businesses highlighted in the article are:
NoteHall.com – Four college students started this business which is an online market place for buying and selling class notes. It’s 2010 expected revenue is $900K.
GiveReal.com – A very creative business idea that uses a Facebook application to allow friends and families to buy each other drinks. With over 500,000 bars and restaurants available around the USA this is a home run!
IdeaPaint - Three college students who couldn’t afford a whiteboard for brainstorming sessions, decided to create a brand new product to compete with whiteboards. IdeaPaint is a special paint that turns a wall into a dry erase board for much less then buying an actual whiteboard.
These stories just go to show you there are tons of opportunities out there if you apply yourself!

2This shows that anyone can succeed if you have a great idea and execution, independent of age. Would love to try out some of that paint.

6History of Microsoft is coming to my mind. Microsoft is launched by one young man named “Bill Gates”. Now can we think about a world without “Microsoft”? Youngsters can change the world.

7When I read post like this one I can’t stop thinking in the guy who invented Facebook… but apart from being very well prepared people they also have a bit of the “luck” factor…

13I vote for NoteHall.com. The other two seem fine but I don’t think I’d use them. I’m sure they’ll be successful though!

14This is inspiring! One thing I’d like to add that Seth Godin talked about at Inbound Marketing–the recipe for success online is not to BE the conversation, but to FACILITATE it. Set up a framework for people to communicate, then step out of the way. Facebook, PayPal, Threadless, eBay, and several others all embodied this.

22Nice list, and some great ideas too. I particularly like the notehall idea, it must be an absolute winner-the boffins make the cash and the coasters get an even easier ride. Particularly fond as I was a coaster myself now in the SEO game-it all comes good for everybody at some stage.

25Oh yes. I knew a lot of young entrepeneurs continue to grow in the business field, specially in fashion and technology. College studens and high school students mostly take these part.. They enjoy going online, and the essence of earning as well. I myself have tried doing it too, and yeah.. it is fun. Just take a lot of hardwork in providing product catalogues for your online shop, you should be able to provide good quality pictures. And provide all the informations needed regarding the item. Shipping, Payment methods and such. Mothers who stays at home most of there time does it too.

31It is very heart warming to know that these young successful people are sharing their brilliant ideas and performing them on the real world. I could say that success will only be real of you share them and in effect people trusted you.
