Choosing the Right Affiliate Marketing Program
November 24, 2009 | In: Affiliate Marketing
People who are the least bit savvy about Web marketing know there are plenty of scams. Unfortunately, marketers with no morals take advantage of the multitudes of people who come online every day looking for ways to improve their lives. It’s sad, because millions probably get duped into spending money unnecessarily, only to chase down avenues that go nowhere. Thankfully, there are ways you can make money online with no up-front investment. This should be good news to those who have been ripped off by Internet schemes!
But sometimes one person’s scam is another person’s good opportunity. A good example of this is the recent controversy over an Internet business-in-a-box, called site Build It. Some believe that at least one person has created a SBI review that was misleading. The owner has publicly defended himself and he could be totally right. But it’s up to every individual to do their own research before paying money for Internet “opportunities”.
One of the most successful ways I’ve found to make money online is totally above-board and is also pretty easy. I make money writing. HubPages — a community blogging site — makes it easy to write content that generates ad revenue. You can create as many or as few content “hubs” (pages) as you want. Each hub you create can make up to five types of affiliate marketing revenue: Amazon and eBay items, any affiliate marketing program you want to implement, Google AdSense ads and Kontera ads. Sixty percent of the impressions (page views) that generate revenue go to you and HubPages gets the other 40 percent. Affiliate programs are an exception to that rule though; One hundred percent of income generated by click-throughs from an affiliate link on a hub would belong to you. It takes a while to get good at writing solid hubs but the money you can generate over time makes it worth it.
One of the affiliate marketing programs I like to use on my hubs is RevResponse, because it provides valuable free information for people. When people click on links to any of the RevResponse publications or white papers and qualify, you get paid. That’s all there is to it. The qualifying part is the catch though, so that aspect is important to understand. To learn more about the rules, check out this RevResponse affiliate review. The information in the review will help you know whether the RevResponse program is right for your readers.
